We are making Georgia’s agriculture more environmentally friendly. To this end, we are training local farmers in sustainable farming methods. As a result, we are increasing biodiversity and boosting the income of the local population.
In Martvili in western Georgia, many people live from subsistence-oriented agriculture. The main sources of income are sheep and livestock farming, grain cultivation and fruit growing. Farmers would like to produce more according to EU standards. However, this requires training and advice for better framework conditions.
With this project, we train and advise small and family farms on organic and biodiversity-friendly agriculture. A development and training center is being set up to promote biodiversity-friendly and climate-adapted farming methods. Diversified farming methods will open up export markets.
