Radolfzell, 13.04.2023: At the end of April 2023, the Global Nature Fund (GNF) and supporters around the world will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation for nature and environmental protection. Originally, the GNF set out from Radolfzell on Lake Constance to coordinate the global Living Lakes network for lake and wetland protection, which was also founded in 1998 – but its work soon spread further afield.
Managing Director Udo Gattenlöhner explains how diverse and important the foundation’s commitment is: “Our active team has developed the GNF from an environmental foundation with expertise in the area of lakes and inland waters into an association that is involved in all key issues of nature and environmental protection: whether mangrove and climate protection in South Asia, clean drinking water in Africa, sustainable tourism in Central America or eco-fair supply chains for European companies – we take the initiative and work together with our partners around the world to create a better tomorrow.”
The environmental foundation Global Nature Fund is currently active in 40 projects around the world in the areas of development cooperation, nature conservation, biodiversity and water. And the Living Lakes Network continues to grow, ensuring that more and more threatened lakes and wetlands around the world receive coordinated protection. There are currently 115 on all continents – even in Antarctica.
To mark the anniversary, the GNF is organizing an online event to which all interested parties are cordially invited:
Thursday, 27.04.2023, 16.00-17.30 hrs
“Can we still be saved? How we can stop the loss of biodiversity together”
In addition to a review of the GNF’s successful work over the past quarter of a century, Marion Hammerl (GNF President and veteran of the German environmental scene), Jürgen Resch (member of the GNF Board of Trustees), Evi Hoch (board member of the Wilo-Foundation) and Andreas Gettkant (Program Manager at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ) will discuss opportunities for sustainable management and the preservation of our livelihoods in a panel discussion with top-class speakers. Attractive prizes will be raffled off as part of the event.
