The Global Nature Fund is a non-profit foundation with currently 27 employees in Bonn, Berlin and Radolfzell on Lake Constance. Since 1998, we have been working with local civil society organizations and other stakeholders worldwide to implement projects in the field of environmental 25001GNF job advertisement project management supply chainand resource conservation as well as development cooperation. GNF supports the private sector in implementing strategies and measures to protect biodiversity. In this context, the GNF coordinates the office of two multi-stakeholder initiatives, the associations “Food for Biodiversity” and “Fair Rubber”. Both associations bring together stakeholders with the aim of achieving a sustainable transformation in agricultural value chains.

Your tasks

You are responsible for the management of multi-stakeholder initiatives. Her main task includes the further development of Fair Rubber e.V., an association for the fair trade of products made from natural rubber, in which 34 companies, non-governmental organizations and individuals are currently involved. The aim of Fair Rubber e.V. is to help improve the working and living conditions of primary rubber producers by applying the principles of fair trade and to support the environmentally friendly production of natural rubber.

They are responsible for supporting members and producer partners from the countries of origin of natural rubber. This also includes the acquisition of new members who are committed to the fair trade of natural rubber. You will be actively involved in the upcoming revision phase of the Fair Rubber Standard. You will also present the goals of the association to the public and committees. You will work closely with the association’s consultants and the GNF team.

In addition to this task, in the ELAN project – deforestation-free supply chains – you will be looking at how companies can make their supply chains deforestation-free. In addition to rubber cultivation, this includes other high-risk raw materials such as palm oil and soy. To this end, existing approaches and suitable instruments such as monitoring tools are being examined and recommendations for necessary steps with regard to the implementation of the EU regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR) in companies are being drawn up. Regular exchanges with experts and companies and participation in specialist events are part of their activities. The GNF is implementing the project together with the Tropical Forest Foundation OroVerde, funded by the National Climate Initiative (NKI) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

They are integrated into the GNF’s Department of Enterprise and Biodiversity. The development of new project ideas and the submission of funding applications offer the opportunity to set your own priorities in the future work of the GNF.

Part-time or full-time employment (32 – 40 hours per week) is envisaged. The position is initially limited to two years. The aim is to continue the cooperation. The ideal place of work is the GNF office in Bonn, mobile working is possible.

Your profile

  • You have a university degree in agricultural and forestry sciences, sustainability or resource management, economics or a comparable qualification;
  • You already have several years of professional experience in the implementation of complex projects with various stakeholders at national and international level
  • Experience with sustainability standards and certifications, including fair trade, is a prerequisite;
  • You are familiar with agricultural production and commodity flows as well as the corresponding legal requirements (EUDR, Supply Chain Act); ideally already in the context of natural rubber;
  • Knowledge of deforestation and traceability tools in theory and practice is desirable;
  • Good presentation skills and a confident manner in meetings with stakeholders from various sectors, especially the private sector, are required for this position;
  • In addition to excellent written and spoken German, you are business fluent in English; further language skills are desirable;
  • You have experience in the acquisition of funding and the preparation of project applications;
