Environmentally friendly production of natural rubber

Project period: August 2019 - December 2020
We protect biodiversity in the Global South. In German companies, we encourage a commitment to sustainable natural rubber cultivation. In this way, we reduce the consumption of environmentally harmful rubber.

The demand for natural rubber is increasing. However, cultivation areas are limited. The automotive industry sources 80 percent of natural rubber. Increasing consumption is accompanied by deforestation and the loss of forests and biodiversity. The expansion of rubber plantations also has social consequences.

The Natural Rubber Network serves as a point of contact and mediator between companies and society. Companies are offered the opportunity to increase their commitment to sustainably produced natural rubber. We also offer help with the marketing strategy for environmentally friendly rubber products.
