German government’s CSR Prize 2025 goes to two GNF partners

Schwalbe and Schwartauer Werke win sustainability award

7. April 2025

The Global Nature Fund (GNF) congratulates this year’s winners of the Federal Government’s CSR Award. Among the five winners in 2025 are two companies with which GNF has been working together on various projects for several years: Schwalbe – Ralf Bohle GmbH and Schwartauer Werke. We are therefore particularly pleased about this recognition of their commitment to sustainability and responsibility along global supply chains.

In the “Good Business Practices” category, tire manufacturer Schwalbe from Reichshof received the award for its “Sustainable Rubber Supply Chain” project – for a fair supply and value chain for natural rubber. Schwalbe is a member of our association Fair Rubber e.V., which campaigns for fair conditions in rubber cultivation. Fair Rubber and Schwalbe work together to promote fair pay and working conditions for rubber tappers in the supply chain.

Schwartauer Werke from Bad Schwartau also received an award in the “Effective protection of the climate and biodiversity” category. With their “bee careful” initiative, they specifically promote biodiversity and soil health along their supply and value chain. As part of the“UBi – Unternehmen Biologische Vielfalt” project, GNF and the Lake Constance Foundation supported the Schwartauer Werke in their biodiversity analysis and development of strategic goals and effective measures with the Biodiversity Check.

Honoring corporate responsibility

The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has been awarding the Sustainability Prize since 2013. Pioneering projects and measures by companies for their social and ecological responsibility in supply chains are honored in five categories. This year, 150 companies applied for the award. A jury of representatives from business, science and civil society selects the winners each year. Further information: Website of the BMAS

These awards show: Joint commitment pays off – for companies, the environment and society.
