Anchoring nature strategically: with the SBTN Accelerator

Apply now and become a Science Based Target for Nature with SBTN Accelerator

With Science Based Targets for Nature, companies can systematically measure and reduce their impact on nature – and thus effectively manage business risks. The Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) has set up an international accelerator program to provide companies with practical assistance in using the methodology/framework. The Global Nature Fund is now bringing the SBTN Accelerator to Germany together with “One Planet Business – by WWF”. Companies have until 15 May 2026 to apply for one of the limited places on the program.

Why companies should take part in the SBTN Accelerator

The six-part workshop series provides basic knowledge and practical assistance for companies that want to set themselves an SBTN-validated Science Based Target for Nature – from analyzing key impacts, dependencies and risks to developing robust targets and implementation plans.

The participants win

  • Sound understanding of the SBTN framework/methodology as a basis for a commitment decision, realistic cost estimation and strategic positioning within the company.
  • Basic skills to implement the SBTN requirements independently – supported by peer-to-peer learning with other companies.
  • Methodical knowledge and practical tools to strategically assess, prioritize and manage environmental impacts and risks in the supply chain and in your own operations.

Who the program is aimed at

It is aimed at companies from a wide range of industries based in Germany, and in particular at specialists and managers from the fields of strategy, ESG and sustainability management and purchasing. SBTN-specific prior knowledge is not required. One to two people per company can take part in the workshops.

The SBTN Accelerator Program benefits companies that want to strategically anchor the nature factor and systematically prepare for ESG requirements from investors and banks or are obliged to report on sustainability in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Consulting companies, oil and gas companies, financial institutions, public sector organizations, scientific institutions and non-governmental organizations are excluded from SBTN validation and thus from participation in the Accelerator program.

These program items await the participants

  • Project kick-off on June 18, 2026 in Berlin
  • Four virtual, half-day follow-up workshops with experts from WWF & GNF
  • Introduction to the SBTN methodology
  • Individual support from WWF & GNF
  • Exchange with committed companies
  • Final workshop in person

Secure one of the limited places by May 15

The number of companies is limited to 15, 1-2 persons per company can participate. The program will be held in German. Those who take part in the program are selected on the basis of a structured selection process. This ensures a balanced composition of the group. The cost for each company is 5,000 euros – regardless of the number of people taking part.

Companies have until May 15, 2026 to express their interest in the SBTN Accelerator program. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail.

This is how it continues

  • Once we have received your expression of interest, we will send you a form in which we ask you for a few details about the company – it should take around 5 minutes.
  • We sift through the information we receive from you and put together a balanced group based on fixed criteria.
  • We will send you a confirmation of participation or rejection by May 22, 2026 at the latest.
  • Please plan to participate on June 18, 2026 in Berlin.
