We provide people with access to clean drinking water. Thanks to the great support of Hannover 96 soccer fans, we have already been able to build wells in nine African countries. In this way, we are making everyday life easier for local people and actively contributing to the fight against disease. <\/p>\n

According to UNICEF, 2.2 billion people worldwide do not have regular access to clean water. This particularly affects developing countries such as the Ivory Coast, Uganda and Burundi, causing illness and even death.<\/p>\n

With “Drinking Cups for Drinking Water”, soccer fans at Hannover 96 home games donate their cup deposit to our drinking water projects in Africa. Since the project began, more than 730,000 Euros have been donated for the construction and maintenance of wells in Africa. This is only possible thanks to the many years of tireless commitment of the volunteers.<\/p>\n

Thanks to these donations, we were able to build wells, pumps and water reservoirs in Africa. More than 150,000 people now benefit from clean water and improved hygiene in the immediate vicinity of their homes. This makes daily life easier for local residents: they – especially women and girls – no longer have to walk for miles to water points or rivers. They also avoid diseases caused by contaminated and germ-laden river water. <\/p>\n
