Lakes, wetlands, and other freshwater ecosystems are the foundation of life on our planet. They are crucial in the fight against the climate and biodiversity crises—and for the well-being of billions of people.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.7″ _module_preset=”default”]

Since 1998, we have therefore been working with the Living Lakes Network to protect and restore lakes and wetlands, alongside 130 member organizations in more than 60 countries worldwide. We remove plastic waste from waterways, advocate for effective protective measures with policymakers and government agencies, and create sustainable alternative sources of income for local communities.

“We’ve been committed to protecting our waters from the very beginning. Without healthy freshwater ecosystems, there is no life and no future.” Udo Gattenlöhner, GNF Managing Director
