This ecosystem is one of the most effective carbon sinks on Earth, and hundreds of indigenous communities call it home. The entire area suffers from various threats, especially wildfires, which have destroyed millions of animals and hectares of land in recent years. Together with the local partner, our project aims to improve the socio-economic situation of six indigenous communities. This is achieved through the improvement of ecosystem services, the implementation of ecologically sustainable economic activities and new knowledge about local biodiversity and the impacts of climate change.
