FWW Webseminar: Lyocell as the fiber of the future?

We invite you on February 26, 2026 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. to our ninth, free web seminar of our series #FairWearWorks goes Digital on. Together with our expert Simone Seisl, Simone Seisl Consulting, we take a differentiated look at regenerated cellulose fibers – with a clear focus on Lyocell.

Lyocell – a fiber made from wood – is increasingly being discussed in the textile industry as a sustainable alternative to synthetic fibers. Closed production processes and the use of renewable raw materials make the material appear at first glance to be a promising solution to key ecological and social challenges. But how sustainable is Lyocell really? The aim of the web seminar is to realistically classify the opportunities of fiber, to make risks visible and to provide orientation for a responsible choice of material.

We focus on three key questions:

  • Lyocell as a renewable raw material – but at what price?
What environmental and social challenges are associated with wood production for lyocell in particular and cellulose fibers in general?
  • Which standards provide orientation – and where are the blind spots?
Which certifications help with the selection of lyocell, and where do they reach their limits?
  • Lyocell as a fiber of the future or a niche solution?
What role can Lyocell play in the clothing industry in the future – also in comparison to viscose or synthetic fibers such as polyester?

The web seminar is aimed at procurers and purchasers from the sports and healthcare sectors, as well as anyone who wants to learn more about sustainable materials in the textile industry. Have we aroused your interest? Then please register under the following link to register.

We look forward to your participation!
