Dear friend of GNF,
The conservation of natural habitats continues to be the focus of our work. Climate change, species extinction and natural disasters demand all our efforts for the preservation of biodiversity.
What can we do when fish stocks decline to climate change, yet fishing continues to secure the livelihood of local residents? In our project on the Río Magdalena in Colombia, we are demonstrating possible solutions. We are also setting an example in Germany - in a new strong alliance, the focus is on biodiversity in the food sector.

Climate change and overfishing are leading to a dramatic decline in fish stocks in the Río Magdalena. Closed seasons and fishing periods must be adjusted so that fish stocks can recover and people can continue to make a living from fishing. © Global Nature Fund (GNF) Threatened Lake of the Year: Pantanal Wetland
The destruction of this South American natural wonder has various causes. What measures are necessary to protect the jaguar, lowland tapir and others is clear, however. They require the determined commitment of the people on site, but also in Europe, whose consumption has an impact on the fragile ecosystem. © NEWS / Global Nature Fund (GNF) Healthy mangroves and sustainable shrimps
First success for the GNF project in India and Bangladesh is visible and motivating: Over 6,000 mangrove seedlings have already been planted in the shrimp breeding ponds of 40 Indian partner farms. Keep it up! Strong alliance for biodiversity
The founding of the German "Food for Biodiversity" association sets an example against the trend of species loss and takes collective action to protect biodiversity in the food industry. © Fundación Global Nature La Mancha wetlands are secured
Fundación Global Nature is able to further develop its wetlands restoration project in La Mancha, Spain, thanks to funding from Aramco Europe.
