Threatened Lake of the Year

Indian Pulicat Lake is "Threatened Lake of the Year 2010

In the occasion of the World Wetland Day on 2nd February, the Global Nature Fund nominates since 2004 each year one lake or wetland as “Threatened Lake of the Year”, in order to refer worldwide to the problems and protection measures in the particular lake or wetland area.

“Project of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development 2005 – 2014”

In March 2010, the project “Living Lakes” has received for the third time the distinction as official UN Decade Project for the years 2010 and 2011. The first distinction occured for the years 2006 and 2007, the second for the years 2008 and 2009.

Ocean Protection

Together with the partner organisation GOB, the GNF supports the protection of sea mammals in the Mediterranean Sea.
